Our 15 days and 14 nights combined tour of Egypt and Morocco is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding and complete itineraries of our travel offer. This exciting tour begins in the ancient city of Cairo and concludes in vibrant Tangier. To optimize your experience and ensure you make the most of every moment, the itinerary includes internal flights: Cairo to Aswan, Luxor to Cairo. Here is an outline of the itinerary day by day:
This 15-day Egypt and Jordan for 15 days has a very intense program. For this reason, the first day was dedicated to getting to this first country on the right foot, completing some formalities and managing the necessary information for the two weeks ahead. Therefore, our staff will be waiting for you at the terminal to make the necessary border formalities and start the private transfer to the hotel.
Upon arrival, you will check-in and receive an informative briefing about the circuit and the countries to be visited. It is therefore a good time to ask questions about the travel package or about practical issues in both countries. After that, there may be some free time left for a first exploration of the city, before returning to rest in the rooms.
Already rested from the trip, we start the sightseeing of this great tour around Egypt and Jordan for 15 days. And they do it in style: after breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer you to the site of the necropolis of Giza, where the majestic Pyramids stand. The pharaohs Cheops, Kefren and Mycerinus, of the IV dynasty, left us this legacy 4,500 years ago, along with the Great Sphinx and other spaces full of symbolism.
But Giza is not the only necropolis to visit on this second day: after it we will go to Saqqara, where the Step Pyramid of Zoser, considered the first of that civilization, is located. And a little further on, in the necropolis of Dahshur, we will contemplate the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid, of enormous historical importance. Three necropolises that, as it could not be otherwise, are Unesco World Heritage Sites.
We will visit mainly in the morning, and lunch at a local restaurant will give us energy for the rest of the day. The afternoon will be free, back in Cairo, and the night will be spent at the same hotel as the previous night.
The capital of Egypt, Cairo, will be the protagonist of the third day, as we will visit its most emblematic places after breakfast at the hotel. One of these places is the Egyptian Museum, so important to understand and admire the Pharaonic civilization.
But the Cairo neighborhoods have much to offer the visitor, and we will focus on two. The first is the Coptic Quarter, so called because of its special relevance in the early days of Christianity. Churches such as the Hanging Church or St. Sergius Church, as well as other buildings of different character, such as the historic Ben Ezra Synagogue, are proof of this.
The second neighborhood to discover is Islamic Cairo, declared a World Heritage Site for such unique places as the Jan el-Jalili Bazaar, the Citadel of Saladin or the Alabaster Mosque. They reflect the period of splendor that this city experienced in periods as different as the Middle Ages or the nineteenth century, under Ottoman domination but open to the world by the incipient Egyptological fever.
It will be an intense day, as such a capital city deserves, which also has quality restaurants. Lunch, included in the program, will be taken in one of them. At the end of the day, you will return to the hotel for a night’s rest.
On this fourth day of the tour, we move from Lower to Upper Egypt, that is, we will travel to the south of the country. For this, our agency’s driver will pick you up after breakfast to transfer you to Cairo Airport. From there, the flight will take off to Aswan, where another representative of our agency will meet you at the airport.
Once in Aswan, our driver will take you directly to the Temple of Isis in Philae, one of the most beautiful and unknown temples in the country. This construction, dating from the 4th century B.C. and renovated in later centuries, is considered the last great work of that civilization. Now, after having been moved to the current island, it looks radiant, with the pride of having the title of World Heritage Site.
After admiring its beauty, it will be time to check in at the accommodation that will be your home for three nights: the Nile cruise boat. For the time being, it will be a first contact, without starting the navigation but enjoying lunch on board.
The afternoon is free, ideal for a leisurely tour of Aswan before returning to the ship for dinner and rest in the cabin, while the ship remains moored in port.
In the 15 days of this circuit through Egypt and JordanThe fifth will be the earliest start: we will get up early to arrive at a good time to the temples of Abu Simbel. In fact, breakfast will not be taken on board the ship, but in a Breakfast Box during the road trip.
But the effort will be worth it: these constructions are the symbol of the splendor of Pharaoh Ramses II and his wife Nefertari. They were erected here after a pharaonic move in the 60s of the last century, when the waters of Lake Nasser threatened to flood everything after the construction of the Aswan Dam. Today they are a World Heritage Site and one of the great attractions of the country.
After visiting Abu Simbel, we will also return by road to Aswan to get back on board the ship to start sailing and have lunch on board. This cruise is one of the favorite experiences among visitors to Egypt, due to the beauty of the surroundings and the majesty of the temples to be visited along the shore. The first, that of Kom Ombo from the Ptolemaic period, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, who is also the protagonist in the attached museum.
After visiting both sites, we will continue the river crossing along the Nile until we reach Edfu. In the port of that city, the ship will be moored to enjoy dinner and a good night’s rest on board.
On the sixth day of this circuit you will wake up in the port of Edfu and, on board the ship, you will have breakfast. With no time to lose, we will go to the spectacular temple of this same city, one of the most grandiose of all Ancient Egypt. It is dedicated to the god Horus and, therefore, there are numerous references to the animal with which it is associated, the falcon, protector of hunting and the pharaohs.
With the images of the great hypostyle hall, its gigantic pylons and other areas of the enclosure still in our minds, we will return to the ship to face the last leg of the navigation to Luxor. We will arrive there in the central hours of the day, having lunch on board. But upon arrival, we will not leave the ship, but we will go out to discover the eastern shore of this city, formerly called Thebes.
The temples of Karnak, the temple of Luxor, the Avenue of the Sphinxes… The list of places of interest in this sector is enormous, especially for lovers of Ancient Egypt. And in the final stretch of the day, we will return to the cruise ship to have dinner and enjoy the last night’s rest in the cabin.
The third breakfast on board is the last one you will have on the ship, after which you will check-out. But in this case, the transfer will not be direct to Luxor Airport, but before that, an intense program of visits to the western shore awaits us.
In this sector of the city is where the most important necropolis of ancient Thebes, which was the capital of the country during the Middle and New Empires, were located. Therefore, a visit to the Valley of the Kings, the great necropolis of the area, especially since the XVIIIth Dynasty, is a must. We will choose three tombs from among those open that day, and admire the wealth with which the pharaohs intended to travel to the Beyond.
The Colossi of Memnon and, above all, the temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari will complete a most interesting morning. After that, it will be time for the transfer to Luxor Airport and, from there, the flight to the capital, where you will be met by the staff of our agency to take you to the central hotel where you will spend the night.
After breakfast, you will transfer to Cairo airport to board your flight to Marrakech, one of Morocco’s shining jewels. Upon arrival, a representative of our team will be waiting for you to accompany you to your hotel or riad in Marrakech. Depending on your arrival time, you will have free time to start discovering the charming Marrakech at your own pace. You can stroll through its famous medina, visit the Majorelle Garden or simply relax in one of its cafes while soaking up the vibrant local atmosphere. You will spend the night in Marrakech, and although dinner tonight is not included in the itinerary, you will be in one of the best places in the world to explore the incredible Moroccan gastronomy on your own.
After a delicious breakfast at the riad, an expert local guide will take you to explore the most emblematic corners of Marrakech. During the guided tour, you will have the opportunity to marvel at the architecture of the Koutoubia Mosque, explore the historic Saadian tombs and tour the impressive Bahia Palace. We will also visit the old Islamic school of Ben Youssef medersa.
In addition to these historical sites, our guide will introduce you to the daily life of the medina. You will stroll through its colorful neighborhoods and vibrant squares, highlighting the famous Jemaa el Fna, a place full of life recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
The afternoon will be at your disposal for you to take advantage of as you prefer. You will be able to further explore Marrakech, discover its art and craft museums, stroll through lush gardens such as the Majorelle Garden or do some shopping in the local souks. When night falls, you will return to your cozy riad to rest.
On this tenth day of travel, you will wake up in your cozy riad in Marrakech and enjoy a Moroccan breakfast before embarking on an exciting road trip to the south and the Moroccan desert.
The first stage of the trip will take you through the breathtaking scenery of the High Atlas Mountains. We will ascend through the Tizi n’Tichka pass, located at 2,260 meters above sea level, and you can admire along the way picturesque Berber villages and majestic high mountain landscapes, whose peaks remain snow-capped from autumn to spring.
Descending the south face of the High Atlas, we will reach the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified adobe village built by the Berbers centuries ago, which was a key point on the desert trade routes. Today, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is also a famous filming location, known for its appearance in films and series such as Game of Thrones.
We continue to Ouarzazate, known as the ‘Gateway to the Desert’ and the Hollywood of Morocco, due to its film studios. Here, we will visit the kasbah of Taourirt, an ancient fortress in the heart of the city. After a day full of discoveries, you will head to your hotel in Ouarzazate, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner and a well-deserved rest.
We will start the eleventh day of our tour with a revitalizing breakfast at the hotel in Ouarzazate. We will then embark on an unforgettable journey along the iconic Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, a route filled with stunning Moroccan fortresses and landscapes.
Our first stop will be in the Todra Gorges, a majestic canyon that rises with rock walls up to 200 meters high. Here, we will get out of the vehicle to capture with our cameras the breathtaking natural beauty of this place.
Afterwards, we will explore the green oasis of the palm grove of Tinghir, where we will enjoy a walk through the lushness of its palm trees. We will repeat this experience in the palm groves of Tinjdad and Touroug, making a pleasant journey through these green lungs of the desert.
Then, we will head to Erfoud, a city known for its richness in fossils and its outstanding marble production. Here, we will have the opportunity to visit a local workshop to learn more about these crafts.
The day will culminate in the town of Merzouga, where we will change our 4×4 for the “8×8 of the desert”, that is to say, the dromedaries that will take us through the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here, we will witness a magical sunset that tinges this sea of golden sand with warm colors. Finally, we will stay in a tented camp in the middle of the desert, where, under a starry sky, we will enjoy a traditional dinner.
The twelfth day of our trip will surprise us with a spectacular sunrise in the tent camp, located in the heart of the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After enjoying this wonderful gift of nature, we will enjoy breakfast before returning to Merzouga to rejoin our vehicle. We will also have time for a refreshing shower, either at the camp or at a nearby hotel, depending on the package.
From here, we will start our way north. Our route will take us to discover Rissani and then the picturesque Ziz Valley. We will cross the imposing Middle Atlas mountain range until we reach Ifrane, also known as “the Moroccan Switzerland”. Here, we will visit the Ifrane National Park, famous for its extensive cedar forest and for being one of the few habitats of the Barbary monkey, which has also earned it the nickname of the National Park of the Cedars or the Monkeys.
At sunset, we will arrive in the historic city of Fez, where we will spend the night in a charming riad located in the medina, an ideal location to explore the charms of this imperial city the next day.
The thirteenth day of our trip begins with a nutritious breakfast at the riad, followed by a full day dedicated to exploring the captivating city of Fez. For this cultural immersion, you will be accompanied and guided by a local expert, who will introduce you to the most outstanding heritage gems of this imperial city, with a special focus on its historic medina.
The tour includes visits to emblematic sites such as the medersa of Bou Anania, the Nejjarine fountain, the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss and the venerable Karaouine mosque. The latter is not only a significant religious center, but also a symbol of scholarship in Islam, as it houses the University of Fez, one of the oldest centers of learning in the world.
The guided tour will extend beyond lunch, which will be at your own expense, and will also include tours of neighborhoods of unique character, such as the tanners’ district and the Mellah, Fez’s historic Jewish quarter. After a day full of explorations and discoveries, you can relax and unwind in the comfort of the riad itself in the medina.
We start the fourteenth day with a hearty breakfast at the riad in Fez, before resuming our exciting journey to the north of Morocco. Our first stop will be Volubilis, an impressive archaeological site dating back to Roman times. Here you will have the option to take a guided tour that will transport you back to the dawn of history, as you explore the ruins of the Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus, the Arch of Caracalla and the dazzling mosaics that adorn the ancient villas, remnants of the time when this territory was part of the Roman province of Mauritania Tingitana.
Once our historical immersion in Volubilis is over, we will take the road back to Chaouen, also known as Chefchaouen. We will arrive in this picturesque town in time to admire its unique charm during the afternoon. Here you will have free time to explore at your own pace the narrow streets of its historic center, nestled in the Rif Mountains. The winding alleys become even more magical thanks to the unmistakable blue color that adorns its houses. At nightfall, you will rest in a charming riad located in the heart of Chaouen.
We reached the fifteenth and last day of our fascinating tour of Marrakech, the desert and northern Morocco. We will start the day with breakfast at the riad of Chaouen before starting our overland route to the port or airport of Tangier. Depending on your ferry or flight schedule, you may have the opportunity to enjoy some free time to explore this unique city located next to Cape Espartel.
