Day 2: Pyramids of Giza and Saqqara Necropolis

The second day will start with a varied breakfast at the hotel, a service you will enjoy throughout the 8-day program. Our driver will then pick you up at the hotel entrance to board the comfortable vehicle provided by our agency because in this Egypt tour, everything included is of the highest quality.

Ahead of you is an intense and unforgettable day as we visit the two great royal necropolises near Cairo: Giza and Saqqara, located approximately 10 km and 25 km away, respectively. At the Giza Necropolis, you will encounter the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. The first pyramid was once considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and is the only one that has survived. It was built around 4,500 years ago by the pharaoh of the 4th Dynasty as his burial place, aiming to achieve eternal life after death. His son Khafre and grandson Menkaure followed suit, adding other structures to the complex. For example, the Great Sphinx of Giza, a colossal statue depicting a lion’s body with a human head, possibly representing Khafre.

With the guidance of our official guide, you will explore every corner of the archaeological site and unravel the secrets of these great figures. Shortly after, you will do the same at Saqqara, which was the great necropolis of Ancient Egypt, in use from the 1st Dynasty until the final stages of that civilization. Its pinnacle likely came during the 3rd Dynasty when the nearby city of Memphis served as the kingdom’s capital, and Pharaoh Djoser commissioned the first-ever pyramid in history: the Step Pyramid. It is not the only pyramid in the complex, and there are other points of interest to discover, such as the Pyramid of Unas and the awe-inspiring Serapeum, housing numerous tombs of mummified sacred bulls.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in the area, and in the afternoon, we will return to Cairo in our vehicle. Another night of rest awaits you at the hotel.

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Car ride and guided visits to:
    • Giza Necropolis: Pyramids and Great Sphinx
    • Saqqara Necropolis: Step Pyramid
  • Lunch at a local restaurant
  • Overnight stay at a hotel in Cairo
  • Almuerzo en restaurante local
  • Noche en hotel en El Cairo

Day 3: Full Day in Cairo

In the cultural scope of this Egypt tour, not everything included in the program revolves around visits to monuments from the pharaonic era. You will discover this on the third day when the city of Cairo becomes one of the best surprises of the trip. To start exploring it energetically from the very beginning, you will have breakfast at the hotel and the chauffeured vehicle provided by our agency, along with an official guide.

One of the neighborhoods visited on this day is Islamic Cairo, the part of the city that began to take shape from the 7th century after the Arab conquest. Its peak came in the 10th century with the Fatimid, Ayyubid, and Mamluk dynasties. Some of the places we will explore date back to that period, such as the picturesque bazaar of Khan El-Khalili (14th century) and the Saladin Citadel (12th century). Inside the citadel stands the magnificent Alabaster Mosque, more recent (19th century) but of captivating beauty.

Our urban tour will also include another historic and significant area: Coptic Cairo. According to tradition, this branch of Christianity believes that the Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus) resided in this area when the city of Cairo had not yet been founded and there was only a small urban nucleus alongside a military settlement (known as the Fortress of Babylon). The places related to this stay are now sacred sites for this religion, as we will discover in the churches of the area: the Church of the Cave, the Church of St. George, and the Hanging Church. The Ben Ezra Synagogue and other points of interest will complete this intriguing itinerary.

Beyond these two historic and character-filled neighborhoods, we cannot overlook the visit to the Egyptian Museum, as it likely holds the best collection of Ancient Egyptian artifacts: mummies, sarcophagi, statues, reliefs, jewelry, and much more, which our guide will unveil to you.

Therefore, you will enjoy an urban visit for practically the entire day. Lunch is included and will be served at a local restaurant that we will reserve for you. Returning to the hotel, you will spend your third and final night there.

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Guided visit to the Egyptian Museum
  • Guided tour of Islamic Cairo
  • Guided tour of Coptic Cairo
  • Lunch at a local restaurant
  • Overnight stay at a hotel in Cairo

Day 4: Flight Cairo - Aswan and Temple of Isis at Philae

This fourth day of the program is also the first day of this all-inclusive Egypt tour, as all meals will be provided. You will start the day with breakfast at the hotel and then proceed with the check-out process. Our chauffeur will be waiting at the door to transfer you to Cairo Airport for a domestic flight to Aswan.

Upon arrival in Aswan, we will welcome you with another vehicle and head straight to the Temple of Isis at Philae. An official guide will accompany you to explore this fascinating monument. It is the last great temple of Ancient Egypt, with the last known hieroglyphics dating back to the late 4th century. It was dedicated to Isis, the mother goddess and protector of magic, and you will feel the magic and charm here through the beautiful combination of architecture and nature.

After the visit to this temple, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site within the “Nubian Monuments from Abu Simbel to Philae” complex, we will travel to Aswan to check-in and have lunch on the cruise ship for this Egypt tour, which is all-inclusive from this point forward (excluding beverages). The afternoon will be free for those who wish to relax on board or explore this remarkable city, the southernmost in the country and bordering Lower Nubia for centuries. The culture of the Nubian people is one of the main attractions of this city, both in its villages and museums. Elephantine Island, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the Mausoleum of Aga Khan are some of the options for this time.

At the end of the day, while the cruise ship remains docked along the Nile River, there will be time for dinner on board and to spend the first night in your comfortable cabin. It is worth mentioning that the cruise ship for this Egypt tour is of 5-star or higher category, offering excellent facilities and services on board.

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Check-out
  • Transfer to Cairo Airport and flight to Aswan
  • Pick-up at Aswan Airport and transfer
  • Guided visit to the Temple of Isis at Philae
  • Check-in on the cruise ship and lunch
  • Free afternoon in Aswan
  • Dinner on board the cruise ship

Day 5: Abu Simbel and the start of the cruise: Aswan - Kom Ombo - Edfu

You will start the fifth day of this tour with an early breakfast, as we will depart early for Abu Simbel. These spectacular temples are located about 280 km to the south, and we will travel to them by road. They are UNESCO World Heritage sites and are considered by the locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World, leaving visitors speechless. Ramses II was their great architect in the 13th century BC, presenting himself as a true god in his colossal sculptures. His wife, Nefertari, is also prominently featured in the smaller temple, a rarity that demonstrates the special bond between them.

The rescue project of Abu Simbel in the 1960s was also extraordinary: threatened by the flooding of the Nile due to Lake Nasser and the Aswan Dam, it was painstakingly relocated stone by stone to a higher level, the current location. With our guide, you will learn all the secrets of its original construction and recent reconstruction.

Upon returning from Abu Simbel, the Nile cruise begins, one of the most anticipated moments of this Egypt tour. With everything included on board, the experience will be truly special. Here, you will have lunch while the landscape of the riverbank glides before your eyes: at times rocky and steep, but mostly green and lush, with a river dotted with islands, sandbanks, and feluccas.

The first stop of the journey will be at the Temple of Kom Ombo, an architectural gem from the Ptolemaic period. We will also visit its annex, the Crocodile Museum. This sacred site was dedicated to Sobek, the god represented by the abundant crocodile population here centuries ago. Therefore, you can see numerous mummified crocodile specimens, as well as reliefs and other valuable objects.

Upon returning to the cruise ship, the navigation continues to the city of Edfu, where we will arrive the next day. It will then be time to enjoy dinner on board and rest in your cabin while the ship remains docked along the shore.

  • Breakfast on board
  • Road excursion to Abu Simbel
  • Start of the Nile cruise
  • Lunch on board
  • Visit to the Temple of Kom Ombo and the Crocodile Museum
  • Dinner on board
  • Overnight on board in Edfu

Día 6: Edfu and Luxor, on board the cruise

The sixth day of this Egypt tour begins with another all-inclusive experience, as it is the second day of navigation and the third day on which you will use the cruise ship for meals and accommodation. In this case, breakfast on board will be the prelude to the great visit that awaits you in the morning: the Temple of Edfu. It is the second largest temple in all of Ancient Egypt, second only to Karnak, so you will enjoy spaces as monumental as its entrance pylons and as sacred as its Boat Hall. Of course, the tour will be guided, as with all the monuments on the tour.

Upon returning to the ship, there will be time to have lunch on board and continue sailing downstream, passing through the famous Esna Lock. Shortly after, we will arrive in Luxor, where some of the highlights of the program await you, as Luxor is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In this case, we will visit the sites located in the urban area, on the eastern bank of the Nile, and therefore on the remains of ancient Thebes. Thebes was the Egyptian capital during the Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom, as well as a center of power later on due to its influential and powerful Amun Clergy. The Luxor Temple and the Karnak Temple will immerse you in that era when both complexes were connected by a 3 km avenue of sphinxes. Their majestic columns, pylons, and courtyards are some of the elements that remind us of their past grandeur.

After such an intense program, dinner and a restful night’s sleep will be much needed. Both will be provided on board the ship, moored along the banks of the Nile, in one of its most sacred stretches.

  • Breakfast on board
  • Visit to the Temple of Edfu
  • Lunch on board
  • Guided tour of Luxor (eastern bank)
  • Luxor Temple
  • Karnak Temples
  • Dinner on board
  • Night on board in Luxor

Day 7: Luxor and flight to Cairo

On this seventh day of the Egypt tour, the all-inclusive experience comes to an end as we will leave the cruise ship throughout the day. However, breakfast will still be served on board, providing the essential energy for a morning filled with great monuments: those located on the west bank.

Our road trip will take us to the famous Valley of the Kings, where you will explore the awe-inspiring tombs of the great builders of the monuments in Luxor and other cities, such as Seti I, Ramses III, and many others. We will also visit the Colossi of Memnon, colossal statues believed to represent Amenhotep III, according to the main hypotheses. Additionally, we will explore the funerary temple of Hatshepsut, a key queen-pharaoh in the history of the kingdom, who left us with an impressive and unique monument.

After the road trip, we will return to the cruise ship to check out and collect our luggage. Then, we will transfer you to Luxor Airport, where your flight to Cairo awaits. Upon landing in the capital, you will spend your last night in a hotel located near the airport.

  • Breakfast on board
